Philosophy of Technology/Career Education

Career/Technology Education is a vital component of the total education of an individual and is the right of every student in Muscogee County School District who needs it, desires it and can benefit by it. Our purpose is to equip students with the academic, technical, and leadership skill that they will need to succeed in life. Through partnership between education and industry, the Career/Technology Education curriculum will provide students with a solid foundation for their future.

Vision of Career/Technology Education

The vision of Career/Technology Education is to build a foundation for a qualified, educated work force that will enable Georgia students to complete in a world economy.

Mission of Career/Technology Education

Students will have a personalized learning framework that can enable them to transition into careers.

Goals

  1. Identifying academic core courses for each career/technology area.
  2. Developing skill content for each career/technology area.
  3. Articulating all career/technology clusters with post-secondary education.
  4. Providing staff development for Career/Technology Education.
  5. Collaborating with an interdepartmental team in the integration of academic and Career/Technology Education curricula.
  6. Developing inclusionary models for special populations.
  7. Focusing on work based learning for all students.
  8. Conducting an ongoing assessment of Career/Technology Education.
  9. Marketing Career/Technology Education to educators and community.

The Purpose of Career/Technology Education

The aim if Career/Technology Education is to prepare students to select, enter and advance in productive careers by providing opportunities for career awareness, exploration, and experience-based occupational preparation. And further, to provide resources and support to an integrated seamless curriculum that prepares students for higher achievement in academic and occupational skills which will promote their success in our society.

Educational Objectives

To provide students with knowledge that enables them to continue learning on the post-secondary level and throughout their careers.

To facilitate development of programs of study that reflect career goals of individual students and incorporate current industry standards, high-level academic knowledge, and post-secondary requirements.

To reinforce classroom skill development through participation in co-curricular vocational student organizations.

To reinforce structured work-based learning programs such as youth apprenticeship, internship, and cooperative education.

To reinforce structured work-based learning g skills such as people skills, thinking skills, communication skills, and work ethic skills.
