Instructional Technology

Instructional Technology is a broad term for "anything to do with technology especially computers".  My name is Jackie Sizemore and I am the Instructional Technology Specialist for Jordan, Kendrick, Shaw High Schools and Brewer Elementary School.  I am here to assist teachers with using new and different technology in their classrooms.  One of the ways that I do that is to teach High School InTech.  This is a class that introduces different software packages and the class models how the software packages might be used in the classroom.

I try to be on campus at least once and week.  I will be glad to work with you on any software that you would like to incorporate into your teaching.  Please place a note in my box, located in the teacher's box area on the bottom shelf, and I will be glad to meet and work with you.
During the year when we are so actively using our computers, there are some simple maintenance steps that can be done.

Once every two weeks:

  • Clean the outside of the computer:  front and back of the CPU, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
  • For the computer:  From the Start button (lower left corner)>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Scan Disk, run scan disk.
  • Next defrag the hard drive from Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Defrag and run defrag (NOTE:  Turn the screen saver and virus program off so that the defrag will run properly.)

Watch for more helpful hints in the future and until then BEE Weird
