Thespian Society
Welcome!
Thespian Society Troupe #5946 is a chartered member of the International
Thespian Society. Our charter was established in 1998 by B. J. Landen, a
former drama teacher at Shaw. Our sponsor is Ms. Platz, Shaw's Drama
Director since 2000.
What is Thespian Society?
Thespians is an honor society for those actors and theatre technicians who
actively participate in Shaw's Theatre Department. For an inductee to be
invited to join the society, he/she must first complete a year's worth of
extracurricular theatre that totals to 10 points (100 hours) of volunteer time.
Upon graduation if a member has earned 70 points, he/she will receive an honor
cord and a medallion for outstanding service to the society.
What do thespians do?
Thespians love and produce theatre! They spend countless hours to create
quality theatre at Shaw High School and theatres in the community.
They attend the Georgia State Thespian Conference every year in Atlanta,
Georgia. It is a three day conference filled with fun, friends, and of
course--theatre! And they love to socialize! We have monthly socials
at local restaurants, Christmas parties, and an end of the year luau and pool
party.
How can I join?
